An exciting challenge on the waves, where speed, endurance, and teamwork merge in one of the world’s most prestigious sailing competitions. The Ocean Race Europe 2025 will stop in Genoa for the second time, transforming the city into an international stage for sailing enthusiasts. A unique opportunity to admire the most advanced vessels, meet the crews, and experience the adrenaline of a race that crosses the waters of Europe.
The Importance of Genoa
As part of The Ocean Race, Genoa has established itself as a global leader in ocean protection initiatives, thanks to The Genova Process. This series of seminars, promoted by the city, has been instrumental in raising public awareness and engaging international institutions on marine sustainability issues. The principles discussed were presented at the United Nations, becoming a reference point for global policies supporting ocean rights. Thus, Genoa not only hosts a leg of this legendary sailing competition but also serves as a place for discussions and concrete actions in defense of the marine environment.
What it entails
The race will be a breathtaking spectacle, featuring IMOCA foiling boats competing in an unprecedented event, with the world’s best sailors. The tension will be palpable, with intense and close duels on the seas of Europe. The race will start in Kiel, Germany, on August 10, then head to Portsmouth (UK) and Cartagena (Spain), before reaching Genoa. The city will host the fleet before the final departure to Boka Bay (Montenegro) on September 7. With this event, Genoa celebrates its rich maritime history while reaffirming its commitment to ocean protection, solidifying its role as a capital of sailing and environmental sustainability.
